About Our Auction
Welcome! The John McGlashan Fete is a wonderful community event held annually at our picturesque and welcoming Pilkington Street campus in beautiful Otepoti, Dunedin. If you're in town on Saturday 12 September stop by for a spin on the chocolate wheel, a dunk the teacher, or a classic old-school tombola ticket. After all that action, you'll have worked up an appetite for one of our numerous stalls serving fresh food both hale and hearty!
The Silent Auction is a much-anticipated and courageously-contested part of the Fete calendar. With an array of generously donated items and packages it is great way to get a jump on your Christmas shopping, or bag a get-away for you, your friends, or family.
Don't worry if you're not at the fete - we'll let you know the bank account once your bid is successful, or you can use the eftpos on hand if you're at the Fete. There's also an option to make a donation instead of a bid - this year going towards our 'Founders Mural' celebrating the generosity of Margaret and Agnes McGlashan in donating their family property, 'Balmacewen', for the school names in their father's membory. Whether a donation or a successful bid, you'll immediately be emailed a Donation Receipt to claim back 1/3rd as part of your personal tax return.
The boys and their families work hard leading up to the fete to ensure a fun and successful show-case of camaraderie and community. Their hard work and the generous local support helps fundraise for a variety of cultural, sporting, academic, and outdoor pursuits and opportunities to encourage and celebrate the variety of endeavours available at McGlashan. What is raised goes directly to the boys' benefit for things that are over and above everyday curriculum and teaching, and things that might otherwise not be accessible for some boys and their families.
Thank you for being a part of it!

About John McGlashan College Parents and Friends -PFA
The members of the PFA work together to help raise funds to support school-wide projects. The PFA then works with the school to help decide what the funds raised will contribute to.
A key aspect is to ensure all aspects of the boys' interest areas are represented, whether sporting, cultural, academic or outdoor activities and individual and team pursuits.
The annual PFA-organised and hosted fete is an important opportunity for both boarding and day families to come together to show-case the school to the wider Dunedin residents, build community, and be welcomed by the wider John McGlashan College family, including staff, students, and alumni.
