The Maine Music Society has had to cancel its normal 4 concert season held at the Gendron Franco Center because of COVID19. Even though we won’t have regular concert expenses in the 2020-21 season, we will have basic ongoing operating expenses to keep our organization alive and ready to perform when it is safe to do so.
The MMS Board is focused on doing what it can do to help music enrich the lives of our community. We are instituting a series of Facebook posts called "Making Music Soar" in which Chorale members share some of their favorite online music, along with a short personal introduction so you can get to know them better. A new selection will appear each Tuesday and will be 5 minutes or less.
Our Chamber Singers are putting together virtual renditions of some of their favorite songs and these will be posted to Facebook as part of Making Music Soar. These posts will also be available on our Website for those who don’t have Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
Our Board of Directors and newly appointed Artistic Director, Rick Nickerson, continue to meet regularly online to develop strategies to present a season of concerts next year. But they are also focusing on what they can do this year such as Zoom meetings with the chorale and exploring the possibility of putting together virtual renditions/mini concerts with the entire choral participating!
