All proceeds from the event will go toward a pilot program focused on the health and mental health needs of male truck drivers and female fish traders in Zambia. The cost of participation in our gender-based, culturally adapted, and evidence based program is about $300 for one truck driver or one fish trader. Programming includes COVID-related support, HIV education, emotional coping and problem-solving, as well as economic/financial literacy and skill building.

The Moving Well Project International (MWP) develops programs to address the health and mental health needs of at-risk migrant populations in Africa. The MWP aims to adapt/design, monitor/evaluate, and scale-up gender-based and trauma-informed behavioral health programs while accounting for mobility among at risk migrant populations in Africa. With this overall objective, the MWP will build the capacity of researchers, clinicians and migrant populations in Africa and increase the dissemination of evidence-based knowledge and learning.

We utilize rigorous and innovative research methods to adapt evidence-based programs for migrant populations. We believe that understanding the local perspective is critical to developing relevant and effective services and so our program model relies on the ongoing collaboration with our target population while emphasizing their voices throughout the process.
