At Mainely Rat Rescue, we take seriously our commitment to serving domestic ("fancy") rats and other "pocket pets" throughout the New England area. In 2025 alone, we have rescued almost 400 animals so far. We make a promise to each animal that enters our care: to rehabilitate them and provide them with whatever medical attention is needed; to keep them in our foster home network as long as needed, even if that's for the rest of their life; to find new, safe, loving homes that can provide the stability and warmth a rescue pet needs.

At the same time, we've experienced a decrease in donations and grants, alongside a steady increase in costs for bedding, food, caging, medical care, and more. We urgently need your help! Some hard choices need to be made soon: with your support, those "hard choices" can be as simple as which pair of earrings to bid on, or which cute rattie art you want to take home... not "hard choices" like which animal's medical care is prioritized and which animal has to wait.

Each year, the end-of-year auction is a very important fundraiser for us. With a huge variety of items, all donated by MRR's friends, fosters, and volunteers, there's something for everyone to find and enjoy. New items are added to the auction every single day, so it's fun to check back and see what's available. We hope you'll join us for this exciting experience. As always, we are forever grateful for any and all support and engagement, however large or small.

A few rules to help the auction run more smoothly:

• Serious bidding only: Please... only bid on an item if you are serious about paying for it, should you win. Once you place a bid, you may not delete or edit it, so please double check your bid before you submit it! 
• Ask if any questions you have before bidding: In the past, we've ran this yearly auction via Facebook and had a designated post for people to ask questions. This year, on our new platform, we don't have that option. Instead, please direct any questions to us over Facebook Messenger (through our page), or via email (mrr.auction@gmail.com). (If a particular questions comes up often for a particular lot/item, we'll edit the item description to clarify.)
• Bid in whole dollar increments: Note that the system will not allow you to submit partial-dollar bids.
• Winners pay shipping: Please be prepared to pay to ship your item(s) or to arrange for free in-person pickup near southeast Massachusetts.
• Please pay promptly: Following the end of the auction, all winners will be contacted to determine shipping location and shipping costs; then, each winner will be sent an invoice with their total due. Payment is appreciated within 72 hours of receipt of invoice. If the original winner doesn't pay within this time frame, we will offer the item to the next highest bidder, unless other arrangements have been made.

Mainely Rat Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to rehabilitate and find homes for surrendered or abandoned domestic rats and other pocket pets, as well as to spread awareness, provide education, and furnish support for all the animals in its care.
