Recent budget cuts to key social services like food assistance, family support, parenting programmes, housing advocacy, and mental health care mean that too many Kiwi families are left to navigate crisis situations alone. This comes at a time when approximately 1 in every 8 Kiwi children are experiencing material hardship.*

By participating in our Christmas Silent Auction, you’re offering hope and support to families facing hardship – as well as putting a smile on the face of your own loved ones.  Through the generosity of many New Zealand companies, Lifewise is able to offer you an amazing range of Christmas gifts to bid on. Every dollar raised by this event will provide essential funding for Lifewise New Zealand’s Family Services.

 *Material hardship is measured through a questionnaire component within Statistics New Zealand’s Household Economic Survey.  Approximately 143,700 children experienced material hardship in the 2022/23 financial year. That is about 1 in every 8 children, or 12.5% of the total number of children in New Zealand (1,115,800).

The Lifewise Trust (Lifewise) is a New Zealand-based registered Charitable Trust, focusing on Auckland and Rotorua. It is a community social development organisation with roots tracing back over 150 years as part of the Methodist Church of New Zealand.
