Lauren's One Wish Foundation is an extraordinary, touching and powerful tribute to a brave young woman who while fighting leukemia, wished to reach out and help others. Today, her goal lives on with the 4th Annual Rainbow Run 5k & 1 Mile Fun Run on Sunday, December 10th at Celery Fields, Sarasota Fl. Proceeds help local children & teens fighting cancer. Over the past four years, Lauren's One Wish has accomplished so much through the generosity of people like you. We’re excited to share we've Adopted-A-Room at the Ronald McDonald Central House. Room 14 offers day use to families for a quick hot shower or nap. A welcome respite from the intense/stressful/emotional happenings on the oncology or ICU floors. We are also excited to provide funding for RMH's Sandwich Grab & Go program, all for families needing to return to their child’s hospital room quickly.

We continue to fill the electronic wish list for the Oncology floor at Johns Hopkins-All Children’s Hospital in St. Pete. Xboxes, PlayStations, Portable DVD players, games & movies create a diversion for these special kids, many stuck in their rooms for long periods of time. This year we're donating items specifically for the Bone Marrow Transplant kids.

With your help, we also gift scholarships at Sarasota High School and have written a number of “life interrupted” grants to local teens currently fighting cancer. We also regularly give gas cards, SunPasses, Shipt & Publix gift certificates among other items to families in the cancer fight.

Lauren’s One Wish Foundation was created by Jean & Pat O’Hara to honor their daughter, Lauren O’Hara, who lost a nine month battle with leukemia at the age of 18. Lauren was a Sarasota High School track, cross county and soccer athlete with a big heart. Lauren’s wish was to help kids fighting cancer like her. Lauren’s Rainbow Run 5k & 1 Mile is the foundation’s main fundraiser along with our silent auction, with our participants, supporters & sponsors, it allows us to grant her wishes.
