The Lands of Palestine

These canvases by Madison artist Baz Sundark were inspired by photos of  Masafer Yatta, a rural region at the southernmost end of the West Bank, where shepherding communities are struggling to remain on their lands in the face of unprecedented Israeli settler attacks and military aggression.

All of these canvases, and the photographs that influenced them, are on display at  Java Cat Coffee, 4221 Lein Road in Madison.

The public is invited to an Artist Meet and Greet at Java Cat, October 9, from 5-6:30 pm.  Please note that these are extended hours.  Java Cat will be open for this Artist Meet and Greet.

The art represented here grew out of the artist's response to learning about the Genocide in Gaza and the occupation and ethnic cleansing of the West Bank.  They have shared some of the sources that informed them in the links included in this link tree.

All proceeds from the auction will be donated  directly to Masafer Yatta families, through local nonprofit, Palestine Partners, and used to support residents as they struggle to sustain life  on these lands despite constant settler violence and military demolitions of their homes and villages. 

Palestine Partners formed in order to help the Women in Hebron Craft Cooperative to sell their work in the US, assist rural families, and provide information and educational resources about the situation faces by rural farming communities in Masafer Yatta.
