About Our Auction

“LPAPA Squared” is the theme of our first year presenting an all-member year-end juried show as an online virtual gallery exhibition and sale, with special pricing and an auction feature, in response to the continued restrictions and challenges LPAPA and our Artists face related to the ongoing pandemic. This unique format provides collectors from near and far to have the opportunity to add a special work of art to their collection, and support LPAPA and the Artists!

The artists each generously donate 50% of the full unframed retail gallery price to support LPAPA. In an effort to encourage support of its Artists, LPAPA is reducing its usual 50% share of the sales proceeds to 25%, passing along a potential 25% savings to the Collector through an online auction with buy-now opportunities to encourage friendly competitive buying and added support for LPAPA!

All artwork is 8” x 8” and sold unframed with a starting price of 75% of the full value gallery price, with auction bidding at minimum $10 increments. Randy Higbee King of Frames is offering the LPAPA Squared collectors a 40% discount on framing.

Exhibition and sale dates are December 7 - 20, 2020, with sales/bidding commencing Monday December 7th at 10:00 am, and ending Sunday December 20th at 5:00 pm.

LPAPA is hosting a Virtual Reception & Awards Presentation on Thursday, December 10th, 5:00 to 6:30 pm, with awards to be announced at 5:30 pm. A limited number of virtual seats are available free of charge. Visit lpapa.org to reserve your virtual seat!

Additional “LPAPA Squared” artwork can be viewed in the expanded online gallery show at DailyBrushworks.com.

About Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA)

The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit art organization that was originally founded in Laguna Beach in 1996 by five artists -- Ken Auster, Jacobus Baas, Cynthia Britain, Saim Caglayan, and John Cosby -- with a mission to preserve the history of the plein air movement of 19th century California, to support the tradition as it exists today, and to foster a network among plein air painters nationwide.

LPAPA is considered the stewards of Laguna’s plein air painting legacy, which helped establish our town as an artists’ colony more than a century ago. Early plein air artists -- Edgar Payne, Frank Cuprien, Anna Hills, William Wendt, and other now famous artists -- founded the original Laguna Beach Art Association and opened the first art gallery in 1918. The permanent collection they started later established the town’s museum. LPAPA is committed to continuing the outdoor painting tradition and preserving the Laguna Plein Air Painting legacy.

LPAPA's mission includes career opportunities and education programs to help enhance the livelihood of our artist members and community, as well as educate and inspire the next generation of artists to continue the legacy.

Your support keeps the Laguna plein air painting tradition and legacy --- past, present and future alive! Thank you!
