About Our Auction
The 24th Laguna Plein Air Invitational Catalog Art Show opens online with this pre-gallery-opening silent auction, Monday, August 29th at 10:00 am PDT. The special auction pricing starts at 80% of the gallery price, which provides LPAPA art collectors with a unique opportunity to add a special painting to their collection at a potential 20% savings!
The auction has a buy-now feature to encourage friendly competitive buying, and added support for nonprofit LPAPA, and gives Collectors the ability to secure a purchase before the gallery show opens to the public on September 1st. All artwork is sold framed.
The auction ends at 8:00 pm PDT on Thursday, September 1st during the First Thursday Art Walk gallery reception.

The Catalog Art Show represents the 33 award winning Artists that have been invited to participate in LPAPA's 24th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational. The featured artwork will be published in the 2022 collectible Invitational Art Catalog that LPAPA will produce exclusively for this year's event. Each auction winner will receive a copy of the printed Art Catalog. The Laguna Plein Air Invitational will be held October 1 - 9, 2022, in Laguna Beach, California. Proceeds generated through the sale of art work supports the artists and the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit art organization.
After the auction ends, the Invitational Catalog Art Show will continue at the LPAPA Gallery with artwork available for purchase, at the full gallery price, through Monday, October 10, 2022.
The LPAPA Gallery is located on Gallery Row in Laguna Beach at 414 N. Coast Highway, between Jasmine and Myrtle Streets. Gallery hours are Thursday through Monday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, and 6pm - 9pm the First Thursday of each month. We are also available by appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and alternative hours.
About Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA)
The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit art organization that was originally founded in Laguna Beach in 1996 by five artists -- Ken Auster, Jacobus Baas, Cynthia Britain, Saim Caglayan, and John Cosby -- with a mission to preserve the history of the plein air movement of 19th century California, to support the tradition as it exists today, and to foster a network among plein air painters nationwide.
LPAPA is considered the stewards of Laguna’s plein air painting legacy, which helped establish our town as an artists’ colony more than a century ago. Early plein air artists -- Edgar Payne, Frank Cuprien, Anna Hills, William Wendt, and other now famous artists -- founded the original Laguna Beach Art Association and opened the first art gallery in 1918. The permanent collection they started later established the town’s museum. LPAPA is committed to continuing the outdoor painting tradition and preserving the Laguna Plein Air Painting legacy.
LPAPA's mission includes career opportunities and education programs to help enhance the livelihood of our artist members and community, as well as educate and inspire the next generation of artists to continue the legacy.
