Lend A Hand 2017

THIS YEAR’S RECEIPTANT: ASHLEY TATANGELO. Ashley is a 2007 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School where she was a member of the Lower Dauphin 2006 PIAA State Championship team. Ashley played her college field hockey at Alvernia University and she graduated along with her fellow field hockey playing twin sister, Cara in 2011.
Following her passion for the retail industry, Ashley is now a Department Manager for Old Navy at their Hershey Outlet Store. In July 2016, Ashley achieved another milestone in life when she got engaged to her soul mate, Patrick O’Rourke, Jr. The beach proposal while on a family vacation was a childhood fantasy come true for Ashley and planning began for their dream wedding.
On September 4, 2016, both career and wedding planning were abruptly put on hold when Ashley was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). With her fiancé and family by her side, Ashley immediately began treatment. Ashley has never lost hope as she has spent hours, days and at times even weeks in Hershey Medical Center. Ashley has maintained her signature positive outlook and great spirits even as the treatment have taken a physical toll. Having received four rounds of chemotherapy, Ashley continues to travel the road to recovery and hopes to soon return to work and planning her November wedding. Ashley and her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Lend A Hand. They feel honored to be among the list of deserving individuals this organization has supported.

The Lend A Hand event was founded and organized by Coach Linda Kreiser, head coach of the Lower Dauphin Field Hockey Program for the last 40 years. Coach Kreiser is a nationally known and recognized field hockey coach who has impacted the lives of thousands of young athletes over the years.

To date, over $55,000 has been raised. 100% of the proceeds have been donated to individuals or families that have experienced a life changing event resulting from illness, accident, or natural disaster.
