About Our Auction

Greetings, Friends! Welcome to our first ever online Silent Auction to benefit our partners in ministry in Kibwezi, Kenya. Many of you have likely participated in our annual Silent Auction over the past decades when it took place in the hallways at church. We have enjoyed seeing your energy, creativity, and good-natured bidding wars in person. This year, however, has challenged us all to pivot and seek ways to continue doing mission work – in this case – virtually. We are calling it our “Very Silent Auction”.

Please extend us grace! A small, dedicated team of auction volunteers has assembled to bring this event to life using Auctions32. It is something we have not done before, and we are working out the details as we go! This is how it should work:

(1) Use this link to reach our Kibwezi Auction: https://www.32auctions.com/Kibwezi2020 Once there, click on the green “View All Items” button and you will be able to browse the selections.
(2) If you would like to participate by placing a bid, you will need to create an account (username & password of your choice). Once you have done that, Auctions32 will send you a confirmation email. Open that email and confirm your account and you are good to go. If you have any trouble setting this up, please email the team at KibweziAuctionbpc@gmail.com for assistance.
(3) The auction will run from October 16th to the 26th. Bidders can watch the site, and winning bidders will be notified by email, which will include both detailed payment instructions and put you in contact with respective donors to facilitate mutually agreeable delivery options, if applicable. Payments can be made through the BPC Engage system or by mailing a check to BPC directly with “Kibwezi Auction” in the memo line.
(4) If you would prefer to make a flat monetary donation instead of bidding on any of the items, you have options:
.... (a) Using the auction site: choose the “Donation” item within the auction. This “item” is from a generous donor who is matching any donations that are made up to a cumulative maximum of $1,000.00 or
.... (b) Without using the auction site: make a donation via the church website: www.burkepreschurch.org, click on the “Giving” tab at the top, scroll to the “Kibwezi Ministries” section and click on the green “Donate Now” button, or mail a check made payable to Burke Presbyterian Church to 5690 Oak Leather Dr., Burke, VA 22015, with “Kibwezi” in the memo line.

About BPC's Kibwezi Kenya Partnership

Since 1987, Burke Presbyterian Church and Kibwezi Bethel Church have built a partnership based upon mutual trust, faith, and respect. Since the churches have much to give each other and Jesus calls us to love one another — through letters and visits, we developed a list of ways we could assist one another in achieving God’s purpose.

In East Africa, where educational opportunity is limited, The Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) has made the church and the vocational school a primary mission focus in this arid land of subsistence farming and survival living. We have joined the PCEA in providing resources for the church and technical school. More recently, we have to our mission program financial support for the needs of 17 Nendeni (bush) churches, for the hiring of 3 of 6 full-time evangelists, provision of daily meals, and construction and curriculum support for six preschools. During this time of drought, we have added food support for those in need in the community, responsibly managed by the Pastor in Kibwezi.

Although this silent auction is directed to the above mission projects, it is important to note that we also provide financial assistance, guidance, and prayer for the Burke/Kibwezi Tumaini Orphan Care Project (TOCP). The TOCP supports the educational and personal needs of 35 Kenyan orphans each year. Their extended families receive beans and maize food support from the Kenyan social worker who we employ to manage the project. Water-borne disease is prevalent; we supply clean water systems to enhance health and well-being. The TOCP is primarily supported by our annual Mother’s Day appeal. We appreciate BPC's continued support.
