The Yukon Hospital Foundation was registered as a charity in July 2005. The purpose of the Foundation is to raise money in support of the best possible healthcare for all Yukoners including equipment, programs and services for the Whitehorse General Hospital, the Dawson City Community Hospital and the Watson Lake Community Hospital.

Since 2005, the Foundation has purchased equipment for the operating room, emergency, maternity, pediatrics, medical departments, and the laboratory. The Foundation has purchased a CT scanner, digital x-ray equipment, Canada’s first MRI North of 60, a clinical simulation centre to allow our doctors and nurses to train for both common and rare medical emergencies. This past fall we contributed $450,000 towards a new 3D mammography, which will help Yukon women receive less false positive tests and earlier diagnosis of breast cancer.
