The Gondolier Booster's Golf Classic Fundraiser

We are looking forward to hosting the 32nd  annual Gondo Golf Classic in Loving Memory of Amy Murakami Shimizu on June 15, 2026 at Sunset Hills Country Club. After golf, the nearly 120 golfers, guests, and volunteers—alumni, teachers, and community members—will sit down together for dinner, an awards presentation and results of the raffle and auction. There are many ways you can help make the Gondo a success, including playing in the tournament, sponsoring a group of students to play in the event, sponsoring a tee or hole, donating a prize for the raffle or simply making a cash donation. All help is appreciated. The Gondo is organized by a diverse group made up of current and former Venice High teachers, administrators, students, parents, and coaches.

On behalf of those volunteers and the students of Venice High School we thank you for your support. This is truly a volunteer run event with all proceeds going directly to support student activities and of course to keep the golf team supported at Venice High School.

The Gondo Golf Classic Tournament has been held every year for the last thirty one apart from 2020, the Covid 19 Pandemic year. 

Coach Myra Einberg had the idea to organize a golf tournament to raise money for Venice High School. Myra recruited teachers Bill Fairbanks, Jim Blackwood, Sharon Gebhart, Amy Shimizu, and Jan Davis to assist with organizing and running the tournament.  Our original tournament committee has lost some beloved members. We are fortunate to have members such as Jasmine Jaffe, Brian Bleser, Kevin Behrendt, Margo Oku, Nikki Gilbert, Alex Galvan. Barb Hornak and Lorena Alvarado.

Over the years, we have raised enough money to fund several projects and provide extra funding to many of our athletic teams, clubs, and programs.  The golf tournament has provided funding towards the following projects/groups:

• Donated over $100,000 to Venice High Sports teams
• Improved Venice High School Staff Areas
• Supported educational needs
• New ice baths for the Sports Medicine Program
• Maintains the athletic fields
• New LED scorers table in gym
• Enabled all gym and field games to be streamed on AI cameras
• Robot field striper for football/soccer games
• Yearly green fees for the golf teams
• Equipment/supplies for the Sports Medicine Academy
• Additional funding for all the Venice High athletic teams
• Scoreboards
• Installation of Senior Banners on campus
• Funding to support the Venice High School Musicals and Plays
• New Band Uniforms
• Administration Account
