About Our Auction

Whether you live or work in Fondren, you call the neighborhood home and that means you have already made a substantial investment in Fondren. As you have seen first-hand, the work of FRF is vital to the continued success of our neighborhood and in order for us to maintain and broaden our current momentum, it requires a further investment in the programming services and events that our organization provides. Have you ever driven through the neighborhood and said, “somebody should do something about that”? FRF is the organization that is trying to do something about it.
Maybe you are not sure what FRF does for Fondren, please review the projects we are working on in 2018:
• This year we are reaping the rewards of years of effort and labor towards our sidewalks, signage and other development of the Historic Business District. This project required many hours of coordination and communication from Jim Wilkirson, our Executive Director, with the City of Jackson, architects, the construction crews and local businesses.
• A business improvement district (BID) proposal has been created and submitted to the city to include a master plan with code form for the future restoration and new developments, as well as, maintaining the landscape that will be added under the sidewalk grant, security and other infrastructure improvements. This proposal required hundreds of hours of gathering data, communications with the city and with local businesses.
• Development of a Fondren security district, a residential reporting system with partnership and accountability from the city
• Planning and development of our newest event, the MS Food and Wine Festival.
• Playground improvements and participation with Boyd Elementary School as its “Adopt-A-School Partner” and the Teen Trendsetters program facilitator.
• Annual events, like the art shows at the Cedars, which features and supports local artists, Symphony at Sunset at the Cedars, MS Craft Beer Festival and Fondren Unwrapped.
• All of the projects above are in addition to the day to day constant communication with the city and county administrations on behalf of Fondren businesses and residents.
So, as you can see, we are quite ambitious in our undertakings for the Fondren area. All of these events and improvements cannot be planned or managed for free. We must find ways to raise money and need your support. Please look at all of the items generously donated to support FRF and place a bid or just donate with the donate button.
