30th Annual Lubbock BGC Faces of Future Fundraiser

The Boys & Girls Club of Lubbock (LBGC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe, positive environment for youth ages 5–18. Founded in 1940 as the Lubbock Boys Club, the organization expanded its mission in 1993 to include girls and became the Boys & Girls Club of Lubbock. Today, LBGC operates four club locations in Lubbock and one in Shallowater. Beginning in 2025, LBGC expanded eligibility to include five-year-olds to better serve working families and community needs.

Texas Tech Athletics has always been a supporter of the Lubbock Boys and Girls Club and we are proud to welcome Jacob Rodriguez as this year’s guest speaker in support of the Lubbock Boys & Girls Clubs.

A standout linebacker for Texas Tech University, Jacob’s journey is one of adaptability and perseverance. A former record-setting high school quarterback at S.H. Rider High School in Wichita Falls, Texas, he transitioned to linebacker at Texas Tech—a move that transformed his career. Jacob went on to become a three-time team captain, First-Team All-Big 12 selection, and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, earning national recognition for his impact on and off the field.
Jacob’s story inspires young athletes to embrace challenges, work hard, and believe in their potential.


 

The original vision of providing a place for boys to spend leisure time in a wholesome manner has expanded to include boys and girls who need a positive influence and environment.  The Lubbock Boys & Girls Club is helping Lubbock’s youth build a better tomorrow for themselves and their families. The Lubbock Boys Club officially became the Lubbock Boys & Girls Club  in 1993.  Even as they expanded its services and locations, the mission has remained constant– to meet the needs of Lubbock youth by providing a safe, positive place for recreation and learning.  From a tentative beginning membership of 65 members in one rented basement, the Club has grown in membership and touched the lives of countless local youth–over 5,000–through its five service locations.

30th Annual Lubbock Boys & Girls Club Faces of the Future Live Event will be held on March 7th, Saturday 6:30pm-9:00pm at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center; 1501 MacDavis Lane, Lubbock, TX 79401
