ETW X*mas Auction 2025 will benefit Amrita SREE, a women’s empowerment initiative born out of Amma’s vision for a society where there are no barriers to the social, emotional and economic empowerment of women, which further leads to gender equality.

The Indian Ocean Tsunami of 2004 not only destroyed thousands of lives and homes, but also had a serious effect upon the fishing industry in India’s coastal communities. At the same time, a farmer suicide crisis was plaguing India as crop prices fell and droughts spread. In the face of Mother Nature’s fury, Amma envisioned that at least one member of each family should become skilled in a trade not dependent upon changing weather patterns.

Amma began with the women. To help them gain self-confidence, she initiated the first Amrita SREE Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Kerala to reach impoverished families in villages. This empowerment to help women overcome poverty, abusive relationships, and lack of education, soon spread throughout 21 states in India with the largest number of SHGs in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Today, there are more than 15,000 SHGs with 250,000 plus members instilled with strength, creativity, and compassion for others. You may participate in the auction from any location in the world. To place a bid, register on the site by clicking on 'create account'. This will show up as soon as you select any item. Once you create an account, you need to be logged in to bid on an item. There are two types of bids in this auction: exact bid and proxy bid. An exact bid is executed at the time you enter the bid and just needs to be higher than the last bid. A proxy bid lets you set the highest amount you are willing to pay and then continues to automatically bid until that number is reached. It is not necessary to keep checking the site with a proxy bid. You will get an email notification only if that highest limit is reached. With exact bids, you get a notification every time you are outbid.

All pricing and bidding are in US Dollars. Payments can be made with any major credit card or PayPal. We will endeavor to deliver your item to you anywhere in the world, as soon as is reasonably possible after the auction officially closes at 11:45 PM EST, December 9th.
