Join us this holiday season for this very special ETW Auction, highlighting Amma’s recent historic visit to the Amrita Hospital in Faridabad, New Delhi.

Amma, along with many of Her children from India and abroad, spent a full month at the Hospital this summer. All day, every day, in Her usual way, Amma was organising preparations for the opening and inauguration of the Hospital on August 24th.

Every evening, Amma continued to conduct Her daily public programs with guided meditation for world peace, satsang, bhajans and Darshan. Even after the inauguration, Amma stayed on for some days to ensure everything was running smoothly before returning back to Her ashram in Amritapuri.

The Hospital is an expansion of Amma’s vision to provide high quality healthcare to all those in need - at affordable prices. It is an extension of what first began with the 1,300-bed Amrita Hospital in Kochi, Kerala 25 years ago.

Located in India’s NCR (National Capital Region), Amrita Hospital Faridabad will house 2,400 beds when fully operational, making it the largest private sector hospital in the country. Spread across 133 acres of land in Faridabad, the beautiful facility will include 81 specialty departments, as well as a Medical College and extensive Research facilities, world-class doctors and the finest, state of the art equipment.

Just like all of ETW’s projects, the Hospital was born out of Amma’s desire to serve those in need, whether in need of food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, or just a shoulder to cry on. By participating in this auction, you will be supporting ETW projects such as this as well as the AmritaSree (Self-Reliance Education & Employment) Self Help Groups (SHGs).

Recently, the 17 th Anniversary of the AmritaSREE SHGs was held in Amritapuri on October 30, 2022 in the presence of Sri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Honorable Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister joined Amma in launching $10 million in economic support for the 250,000 women who belong to  AmritaSREE ’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs). During the event CM Chouhan and Amma distributed seed funding and kits to members. The women expressed their gratitude upon receiving this much-needed support.

While speaking during the function, CM Chouhan said:

“Amma is a symbol of love and compassion who is providing people with the basic means to live. I am blessed to meet you,” said CM Chouhan. "Similarly, let governments also be able to help the poor in this way with so much love and compassion. Amma’s gestures have touched me and I will also try to implement the same.”

Amma, in Her usual expression of total humility, said, “The moon shines from the sun’s light, and likewise, I am able to do all this via my children who are helping to make this happen. I will try to do as much as I am able, but it is my wish to do even more.”

In 2005, Amma began AmritaSREE as an initiative to empower rural women to independently earn a living. This came in the wake of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami when the livelihoods of so many families who depended upon fishing were completely devastated. ETW provides annual seed grants for the SHGs, as well as training in vocational trades that include tailoring, nursing, handicrafts, plumbing and electronics repair.
