Drop150 Challenge 2018 auction

In 2017, speaker, comedian and author Michael Lifshitz of Illumabilities set out to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday by raising $15,000 for Easter Seals through their Drop Zone Challenge, a fundraiser where participants raise a minimum goal in order to be allowed to rappel off an office building. Michael named the initiative the Drop150 Challenge. In 2017, Michael rappelled in 5 cities (Vancouver, Edmonton, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax), raising $5,920. Going with the theory it took 150 years to make Canada, Michael figures he has another 149 years to get to his goal of $15,000 so is continuing to rappel until he hits $15,000. The proceeds from this auction will all go towards Easter Seals and Michael's 2018 fundraising goal, moving him closer to the overall goal of $15,000.

Born with a condition called Multiple Congenital Musculoskeletal Abnormalities, Michael wears an artificial leg and uses a wheelchair for longer distances. Contrary to what many would believe possible, he became a Chartered Professional Accountant and also obtained a MBA from Edinburgh Business School. He has built and sold successful accounting and financial planning practices. Today, Michael continues a successful career in finance and accounting as CFO and co-founder of Breakaway Experiences, a gift experience company, and a proud National Sponsor for the Drop Zone. As well, through Illumabilities, he uses speaking, comedy and writing to not only educate people as to what people with disabilities can do, but to also inspire them to overcome their own challenges and live their life to the fullest of their abilities.
