Destash4Good Winter 2026

Thank you for participating in this round of Destash4Good. Even if you are a veteran of Destash4Good, please read all of the information as there are some new nuances vs. how we ran things on Instagram.

• Many thanks to all who have contributed to this Destash4Good.  It truly is a community project.  Listings for this auction have come from three sources: 1)  my own stash, 2) the stash of other individuals who have generously listed their items and have pledged to donate at least 50% of the sales price to our charity and 3) from indie dyers who have generously donated or allowed me to purchase excess inventory, dye mistakes, discontinued bases, or one of a kind (OOAK) skeins at a steep discount to offer them for auction (see note below about OOAK listings)

• The Auction will run from 8:00 am PT February 1, 2026 to 8:00 pm PT  February 13, 2026
  

• Items are grouped in two broad categories-- Yarn and Other

• Within those master categories, items are grouped in subcatgories by weight for Yarn  (e.g., Fingering, Worsted) and by item type ( e.g., Books, Bags,etc) in the Other. You can filter by category and subcategory in dropdown menu above. 

• Within each subcategory I've tried to put items in alphabetical order by dyer/manufacturer name

• Sellers have been able to set opening bid prices.  Bidding is done in minimum of $1 increments.

• Some Sellers may have selected a Buy Now Option.  You may bid below the Buy Now Price, but once someone bids the Buy Now Price that item is Sold and no further bids will be taken

• The auction utilizes Proxy Bidding, meaning you can enter the maximum you are willing to pay and the system will automatically bid for you until that amount. 

• Buyers pay for shipping.  Please read the Shipping info in the listings very carefully before bidding.
  

• For items that I (GaryKnitsGaryRides) am selling, I will offer shipping to Canada, although it is very expensive.

• All bids are final.  Failure to pay after bidding closes may result in permanent ban from future Destash4Good auctions

• If you have any questions, ask before you bid.

• To minimize Auction Sniping (bids at the last minute) we are using Extended Bidding this time.  Basically, if a bid is entered in the last 3 minutes of the auction, bidding on that item is extended for 3 more minutes until a period of 3 minutes without additional bidding occurs.  This will continue for up to 30 minutes. 

• PLEASE be patient at the end of the auction to receive payment information.  With third party sellers the close out is a bit tricky, so it may take a bit before I can send each invoice.  I want to avoid as many snafus as I can. 

• Note on OOAKS and color variations:  Much of the yarn I purchase directly from dyers are OOAK skeins and have no colorway information.  As a result I will list these skeins individually as I can not be 100% sure that colors that look extremely similar will match in a project.  You will notice a couple of item naming conventions for these skeins:    For two skeins that look like the same color but are noticeably different (i.e. I would never think they were same dyelot if named colors) I will name them something like OOAK Pink A and OOAK Pink B.  If there are skeins that I am reasonably sure would match in a project (i.e., if it were a named color I would think they were in the same dyelot) I have listed the skeins separately but given names like OOAK Teal 1A, OOAK Teal 1B, OOAK 1C, indicating that I would consider using them in the same project as the same color. That said, it is 100% buyer beware and if you have any doubt, don’t bid.   TLDR; OOAK listings with a letter attached (OOAK Blue A, OOAK Blue B) probably don't match.  OOAK listings with a number and letter (OOAK Red 1A OOAK Red 1B, OOAK Red 1C) seem like they match to me, but no guarantees. 
  

Destash4Good is an occasional auction of yarn and other fiber adjacent items to raise money for various charities primarily those serving the LGBTQ+ and other marginalized communities.

From 2018-2024 I raised over $225K for AIDS/Lifecycle in support of the Los Angeles LGBT Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.  AIDS/Lifecyle ended its 30 year run in 2025, but the LA LGBT Center has launched Center Ride Out this year, a three day charity ride, to start a new legacy.  The Center not only provides HIV/AIDS medical services, but also provides housing, food and education/vocational services for over 200 at-risk LGBTQ+ youth and senior citizens, many of whom would be on the streets without The Center.

This round of Destash4Good will raise funds for the Los Angeles LGBT Center through the Center Ride Out Community Engagement Fund a scholarship fund of sorts that will help first time riders and riders from underepresented communties reach their fundraising minimums to be able to participate in this inaugural ride.
