VanNattan-Hansen-Anderson Scholarship Benefit 2025

Auction proceeds will benefit the DAS Van Nattan-Hansen-Anderson scholarship fund. The DAS Van Nattan-Hansen-Anderson Scholarship program provides support for worthy graduating high school students or undergraduate college students majoring in astronomy and the physical sciences.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that promotes education to the general public around astronomy, the Denver Astronomical Society (DAS) has over 1000 members.  The Society has adopted bylaws that include a Nondiscrimination Policy that provides for non-discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. 

DAS holds monthly general meetings open to members and the public featuring guest speakers from the fields of astronomy and space science.  Additionally, DAS manages open house and public night events at the Chamberlin Observatory (University of Denver) and supports outreach events requested by community groups.  DAS maintains a six-acre dark sky site east of Denver, offering members the opportunity to use club telescopes and professional-grade space to set up their own equipment.

DAS sponsors and oversees the Van Nattan-Hansen Scholarship fund, which provides related cash awards to prospective astronomy students.
