Cheer Athletics' Claws for a Cause

The most magical sound in the world is that of a child’s laughter. That is what fills the air at Give Kids The World Village—a wish-fulfilling, fanciful, carefree retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses, and their families.

At the Village, these precious children learn that dreams really do come true, as they and their families are immersed in joy, hope, and non-stop fun for a few unforgettably happy days. Since 1989, the Village has hosted more than 143,000 deserving families from all 50 states and 75 countries, including the Hinsleys and the Jennings from the CA Family.

This extraordinary, life-changing experience is Give Kids The World’s gift, made possible only through the generosity of dedicated corporations and countless individuals. Each year, Cheer Athletics athletes compete at the highest level to make it to Worlds and the Summit at Walt Disney World. Year after year, our CA families enjoy Disney, spending time together and treasuring invaluable moments. Now we have the opportunity to give families of children with life-threatening illnesses that same opportunity – the ability to spend much needed time together as a family away from the medicine and treatment. Here’s what Patricia Jennings, from CA Austin had to say about her experience at Give Kids The World Village.

“... it was an experience that money just can't buy because it is a pause in such an emotional journey. The children who visit the Village are catered to in such a magical way. To this day we continue to be overwhelmed by how this facility functions primarily with almost all volunteers.

My 15-year-old daughter, Tori, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) when she was three years old. Her Make-A-Wish trip was to go to Walt Disney World once she finished her treatment, and so we did two years later. During our seven-day trip, we stayed at Give Kids The World Village and it was one that, even at the age of five, Tori still remembers. As you can tell Tori is doing beautifully and surpassing all her check points along the journey with flying colors. In fact, Tori will be cancer-free for 10 years as of August 2016. Her competitive spirit began long ago and continues throughout her endeavors.”
