About CHATS - Community & Home Assistance to Seniors
CHATS is a not-for-profit charitable organization that provides programs and services to enhance the health, wellness and independence of more than 8,500 older adults and caregivers each year. CHATS offers a full range of in-home and community-based services that enable seniors to continue living, with dignity, in their own homes. These services include Home Help, Respite Care, Assisted Living for High Risk Seniors, Meals on Wheels, Transportation, Home Safety Services, Tenancy Risk Reduction Services for Seniors (hoarding remediation), Wellness/Social Programs, Diversity Outreach Programs, Caregiver Support and Education, Hospital To Home Transition, and much more. Based on a passion for caring and community, more than 400 volunteers are the heart and soul of CHATS
As COVID-19 continues to affect our community, CHATS depends on the generosity of others. Funds are used to enhance and develop essential services and programs to support older adults/ seniors and their caregivers throughout York Region and South Simcoe. As many of us are preparing for winter, we need to remember our seniors continue to be shut in. As the higher-risk demographic, many are not comfortable leaving their homes at this time, which is why CHATS services are still so important to combat issues such as social isolation, food security and caregiver burnout.
