About CB State of Mind

Crested Butte State of Mind (CBSOM) is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created by our community in 2019 to reduce the high rate of suicide in the Gunnison Valley.
We are here to help connect individuals and families in our community with the mental health services they need – free and confidential. One in four people struggle with a diagnosable mental illness. We are in a mental health pandemic and we believe we are stronger together.

Together with our community, CBSOM has been successfully working to address the growing mental health crisis. Our Therapy Scholarship Program launched in April 2020 providing access to short-term, affordable, and quality mental health care in the Gunnison Valley. These scholarships help those who are uninsured or underinsured connect to a local licensed therapist. We are helping remove barriers that include inability to pay for therapeutic intervention, challenges with locating and determining appropriate care, wait-time for care, and the daunting process of navigating the mental health care system. We have provided over 2000 individual therapy sessions to over 200 people to date.

Easy access to mental health is key, but we need your help.
