About Our Auction
The Kanata United Church (KUC) book fair is one of the largest community book fairs in Eastern Ontario. The event happens every year because of so many dedicated volunteers offering thousands of hours to prepare for this traditional event. We are once again preparing for a spring book fair May 8-10, 2025.
In the meantime we are hosting a book auction thanks to the generous donation from Scotiabank Giller Prize. Scotiabank Financial Advisory Services has once kindly donated one copy of each of the five 2024 Scotiabank Giller Prize finalist books.
This year's winner Held by Anne Michaels, was announced on November 18, 2024.
“For more than three decades, the Giller Prize has helped bring ideas to life by celebrating Canadian fiction and has inspired generations of writers to put pen to paper and share their creativity with the world. This year is no different; the five titles on the shortlist are exceptional works of art that inhabit entire worlds and reflect them back to us, granting us a much-needed pause to meditate about preconceived notions, ideas and the status quo.” – Elana Rabinovitch, Executive Director, Giller Prize
The KUC annual book fair allows KUC to support many community non-profit organizations such as Kanata Food Cupboard, Pinecrest Terrace Food Bank, Matthew House, Ottawa Mission, Ottawa Food Bank, and many others.
We reserve the right to cancel the auction if we do not receive minimum bids.
We wish to thank all of our supporters.
