About Our Auction

With social distancing restrictions in place, Bettye Hyde's annual Trivia Night Fundraiser was put on hold this year. As a result, our staff and students put their creative caps on and have decided to fundraise in the form of an online art auction with the hopes of raising funds for air purification systems for our school.

Staff and members of both our toddler and preschool cohort groups have put forth a tremendous effort over the last month to create one-of-a-kind pieces. A variety of mediums, methods and materials were used to create each unique piece. You can also donate directly to Bettye Hyde through Canada Helps http://www.canadahelps.org/CharityProfilePage.aspx?charityID=s1757.
An electronic tax deductible receipt will be issued for all donations over $20.

We hope you both enjoy and appreciate all of the effort, learning and fun that was had creating each of the items. We assure you that each piece was made with love, happiness and utmost effort by our BHELC children and their educators. We would like to thank you all in advance for the endless support and incredible power of community during these times.

About Bettye Hyde Co-op Early Learning Centre

Many of you visiting our page are parents, friends and alumni of Bettye Hyde, but we recognize that some of you may be fellow art lovers, community members, and simply supporters of our fundraiser who aren't aware of who we are. Because of that, we would like to give you a quick overview of who exactly we are.

Bettye Hyde Co-operative Early Learning Centre (ELC) offers full-time care and learning for children from 18 months to five years of age. We are located in Sandy Hill, an historic, downtown neighbourhood, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

We employ 10 full-time Registered Early Childhood Educators, including our Director, and a Chef. We offer bilingual teaching (French and English) in our pre-school program with an introduction to french in our Toddler program. For more than 75 years, Bettye Hyde Co-operative ELC has been providing an enjoyable, non-stressful environment where children can develop at their own pace with the guidance of specially trained staff. From a very young age, children enjoy and benefit from playing with others. Development is enhanced and socialization stimulated. Time spent in an early learning centre is one of life’s best developmental experiences.

Named after its first director – a pioneer in the field of Early Childhood Education – Bettye Hyde ELC is a parents’ co-operative devoted to awakening and strengthening that same co-operative impulse in the very young.

The school is a registered non-profit charitable corporation, owned and operated by the parents of its students.

At the school, parents have the opportunity to learn about child development, to participate in their child’s preschool experience and to contribute their ideas and talents to the program. Through the Co-operative’s Board of Directors and the general meeting held in September each year, parents join in the overall organization and administration of the school. In addition, parents play an active part in the school’s operation as they help with scheduled maintenance and fundraising through the year and this is where our Mini Masters Art Auction comes into play!
