About Our Auction
Participate in Appleby College's online Silent Auction in support of United Way and Appleby's Financial Assistance Programme!
We are auctioning off two sets of one face cord* of dry, mixed wood from trees felled around Appleby over the last few years. It has all been cut by the Appleby Facilities team and split by Principal Innes van Nostrand. The proceeds of the auction will be split evenly between the student 2021 United Way Campaign, assisting dozens of agencies in our region delivering support to the neediest in our community, and needs-based financial assistance for Appleby families struggling with the financial impact of COVID-19. Any winning bids over $150 will receive a charitable tax receipt for the difference between $150 and their bid. We are happy to deliver the wood to your door, if you are within 100km of campus. The top two bids will win.
This a meaningful way you can have a great impact both on people who need our help in these difficult times while also ensuring you have a good supply of wood in the middle of what has turned into a real winter season.
In addition, if a face cord is more than you want, our student outdoor leaders have been splitting and bagging wood for sale on campus during morning drop off every day this week.
* A face cord is a 4 feet by 8 feet (1.2 x 2.4 m) stack of wood.
Silent Auction Rules:
• Most purchases are HST exempt.
• Only an auction official may nullify a bid
• The online silent auction is now open for bidding and will close at 11:00 PM EST on Monday, March 8.
• Payment in full by the successful bidders is to be made to Appleby College - post event, bidder will be contacted via email. Payment may be made by cheque or by credit card.
• All sales are FINAL, there will be no refunds.
• Appleby College has endeavored to catalogue and describe the items and services correctly; however, everything is sold "as is, where is". Appleby College makes no express or implied representations or warranties whatsoever, including any estimate of value with respect to any items sold. By his/her purchase, the buyer waives any claim, whether in contract or tort, against either Appleby College or the donor of the item purchased, that may result from utilization of such item. Purchasers are bound by the restrictions specified by the donor.
