About Our Auction

Welcome to the 9th Annual Amanda Todd Legacy Online Auction

Amanda’s Legacy was established as a non-profit society with the mission of promoting awareness and the well-being of young people and families. Our focus is on awareness, prevention, and providing resources related to online bullying behaviors, exploitation/sextortion, online safety, and strategies for digital wellness.

With the generous contributions and donations from compassionate individuals, Amanda's Legacy diligently works towards achieving its goals. The legacy is dedicated to empowering children, youth, parents, and community members, fostering trust and confidence to make a positive impact on their own lives and those of others.

As a global team, we will continue to unite in bringing about the significant changes we all aspire to see. By participating in this auction, you are not just supporting a cause; you are championing a safety path for all. Together, we can create a world where kindness, compassion, and mental wellness thrive.

Thank you in advance for being a strong supporter and advocate for safety. Your involvement makes a difference and helps us honor Amanda’s legacy.

Funds raised by this auction will benefit:

  • Capilano University Music Therapy Award
  • Douglas College Awards & Bursaries in Amanda’s memory
  • Foundry Tri-Cities: Providing integrated health and wellness services for young people
  • Community projects and financial support for youth/families related to trauma informed care and mental and digital wellness
What has happened to Amanda’s Dutch predator? Aydin Coban is a Dutch national who was convicted of multiple charges related to the online harassment and extortion of Amanda Todd, a Canadian teenager who tragically took her own life in 2012. Coban's actions included using numerous aliases to manipulate and threaten Amanda, demanding explicit content and then sharing it online when she refused to comply.

In 2022, Coban was sentenced to 13 years in prison by the British Columbia Supreme Court for extortion, possession of child pornography, child luring, and criminal harassment. However, in 2023, a Dutch court reduced his sentence to six years, which he has started to serve after he completed an 11-year sentence in the Netherlands for similar crimes involving the online extortion of other young girls and gay men.

Coban's case has highlighted the severe impact of cyberbullying and online exploitation, leading to increased awareness and discussions about the importance of online safety and mental health support.

We thank you for your continued support of Amanda's Legacy and wish you happy bidding. New items will continue to be added up to the start time of the auction. There may also be new items during the auction, so keep checking back!
