Art of Caring Online Auction

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Art of Caring event is being held online. The Art of Caring is The Hickman's annual gala-like event that raises funds for the The Hickman's Resident Assistance Fund. The Fund provides financial assistance to residents who are facing a hardship and are no longer able to afford their room, board, and/or personal care needs. In lieu of the silent and live auctions, we are hosting the auction online and the proceeds will continue to benefit the Resident Assistance Fund.

From original artwork by local artists and stunning jewelry to a meal prepared by an award-winning chef and an autographed Philadelphia Eagles' football, we have something for everyone! With the holidays just around the corner, our auction provides you the opportunity to get unique gifts for everyone on your shopping list. Plus, you'll have the great feeling of knowing the money you spent went to support the wonderful residents of The Hickman!

About The Hickman

Founded on Quaker principles by Lydia Hall and Sallie Sharpless, The Hickman Friends Senior Community of West Chester has been providing comfortable and caring accommodations for seniors in Chester County since 1891. The Hickman is based on a rental model, which enables elders with limited means to choose our safe and thriving personal care community as their home.

Licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS), The Hickman offers a communal living environment. We provide three daily meals, weekly housekeeping/laundering, 24-hour staffing, 24-hour on-call nurse services, multi-sensory programs, daily social and recreational activities, and more.

Our campus, located on Quaker Hill in the heart of West Chester, is comprised of two buildings (the historic Hickman and the new Anna T. Jeanes), which together contain 109 resident suites. Twenty-two of which are located in our secure memory care neighborhood. The Hickman's unique location provides our residents to all that West Chester has to offer, including restaurants and cafes, shops and boutiques, libraries, museums, theaters, and places of worship.

The Hickman has a long history of providing assistance to residents who have exhausted their financial resources. With the generous support from individuals, businesses, and foundations, The Hickman continues this great tradition.
