50/50.2

Thank you for participating in the second 50/50 Auction to build a skatepark and learning center in Taylor Texas. We had such an amazing response from the artists, the community and the City of Taylor that we decided to do it again.

Over 150 celebrated artists from the art, music and skateboarding community are coming together to help us raise money for a skatepark for the kids of Taylor, Texas. It all began in 2013 when LOOP students wrote letters to 50 artists around the country to work on raw skateboard decks from CreateAskate.

Last year 116 finished works were auctioned off and we raised close to $28,000! Since then, we have been meeting City Officials and the Parks Department. After seeing the commitment of the Loop kids and the support by the artists community, the Parks Department now supports our cause. This is huge for us and we owe so much of it to you! The Parks Board has now asked us to provide a design and proposed locations. In January we will be working with Evergreen Skateparks in a series of workshops with local youth.

Our continuing goal is to make the entire process an educational experience for the kids, including:

- Learning to design in Sketch Up
- Building concrete forms on a half pipe test ramp
- Creating and giving presentations for the city council
- Learning landscape design and utilizing native species
- Learning project management skills

We are committed to doing this park the right way so even with the city's matching funds and or grants, we still need to raise more money, so here we are with the 50/50 2.0. Our goal is to raise 50k this round. With this funding we can create something we can all be proud of!
