Chaplin-The pup with the biggest heart

 Our forever puppy, Chaplin, a mixed Terrier rescue dog that literally walked into our yard and into our lives forever, has been dealt more than one bad hand: congenital mitral valve disease, resulting in an enlarged heart and a collapsing trachea, as well as previous owner abandonment. In March of 2025, Chap endured acute heart failure. Fortunately, skilled medical hands helped us pull Chap back from a dire situation and he has been doing so well for the past 17 months! Unfortunately, his current treatment is no longer working and we had to scoot him back to the ER this morning. We caught the signs early and we expect to Chap to come home and back to his normal self soon. So far, neither trip to the ER has Chap signaled to me that he is ready to leave this mortal coil, so we have committed to helping him live his best life. He enjoys every moment with us and his vigor to survive is astounding. He loves to adventure, rides in the car, walks in the park, tolerates our other fur babies very well, and can’t stand being without his human parents. Everyone who meets him, falls in love with him.  And, we believe that it is worth it. 

Chap loves life. Our commitment to him has come at an enormous cost and sacrifice. We believe that it is worth the sacrifice. 
 
 We haven’t been able to travel far from San Diego since he can no longer tolerate altitude changes. Chap takes 4 expensive medications twice a day which has impacted our schedules as they require at least one of us home with him to administer his evening dose. Chap’s diuretic causes frequent potty breaks throughout the day, which requires someone to be home to let him go potty. These issues mean we often can’t go to later day events together- family, friend, or otherwise.  One can imagine how our evenings are going, on average, we have to get up around 3 times per night to let Chap potty. We have tried using dog pads to no avail- for some reason he refuses to potty in the house.
 
 Nox is 9 months in to starting a business with his father, which has been a lifelong dream. I currently am in grad school full-time, and work at the County full-time and often do some side marketing jobs to supplement our income. Together, we have worked to maintain our commitments to our fur babies, but we are feeling more of a strain than ever after this last ER visit. We have sustained thus far, and it is very hard for us to ask for help but now we have no choice. 
 
 Our hope is to sell some of our prized possessions in an auction to help pay off the vet bills. Additionally, I am newly certified in Cranial Sacral Therapy and can perform Moxa treatments and Cupping treatments for donation. Lastly, we can even have our band Wicked Echoes play for donation depending on the situation! We will be opening a Go Fund Me for anyone that would just like to donate that way.
