About Our Auction

God's Bidding Online Auction is a vital element of United Church of Chapel Hill's Alternative Gift Market, a staple for 32 years! Members of UCCH offer gifts of their time, service and talents to raise money for Church World Service's work with Afghan refugee resettlement as part of the overall efforts for disaster recovery. This year, use this site to order items from UCCH vendors, such as pecans and wool hats and mittens!
You are encouraged to bid on/order any or all items within this auction. Bids and orders can be placed 9am on Sunday, November 14 to 9pm on Wednesday, November 24.

About United Church of Chapel Hill

Auction: God's Bidding 2023

This is the 14th year that the Alternative Gift Market has included an online auction, called "God's Bidding." The auction represents gifts/donations from church members who offer their time, service, talents, or beautiful objects and vacation homes to help raise money for local and international charities and organizations. When members, friends and others "WIN" these items through generous bidding, the money they pay goes not to the donor but to selected projects that help give people immediate relief from desperate situations caused by poverty, and opportunity to move out of poverty.

The goal for God's Bidding 2023 is $12,000 and the proceeds will be split between the IFC (Inter-Faith Council, which supports people with a variety of needs in our community) and CWS (Church World Service).

Church World Service (CWS)
UCCH is raising funds to provide assistance in relocating families and people displaced by disaster and armed conflict. While CWS offers support to all families, people within the USA who are displaced by climate disasters receive assistance from CWS.

IFC: Inter-Faith Council for Social Service
The IFC helps families in our community dealing with: food, job, and housing insecurity.

AGM HISTORY
In 1963, a group of seven local people united their volunteer efforts to address the conditions of poverty in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. The Inter-Faith Council was created, “to discover unmet needs and to respond through the coordinated efforts of volunteers.” Since that time IFC has developed: alternative housing, job coaching, free health clinics, safe shelter, community services, advocacy, legal advice, and food pantry.
