Toby Crisp Fundraiser

On Saturday 3 May, BRC's Toby Crisp suffered a heart attack whilst playing the game he loved. Toby was rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital to undergo emergency open heart surgery to repair the valve in his heart which failed him on the pitch.

Toby, a true clubman, was playing alongside five of his best friends on the day and initially responded well to the surgery. However, sadly, Toby succumbed on Friday, passing away in the early afternoon.

Balmain Rugby Club, with the blessing of Toby's family, is currently arranging a fundraiser in his honour this Sunday from 12pm at The Balmain Hotel, 74 Mullens St, Balmain.

The Crisp family and Balmain Rugby will distribute funds raised on the day towards:

* CPR training for local sporting clubs
* Donation to the ICU unit at Royal Prince Alfred.
* Contribution towards Defibrillators for Subbies Rugby Clubs
* Assisting with costs for Toby's wake

As a club we believe that enjoying both your footy & the social side, are equal aspects that need to work alongside each other & as a result, events like Balmain Rugby Pub Golf & Balmain Rugby Club’s Ladies Day have become famous throughout the Peninsula.

Balmain Rugby is non-elitist & the benchie for 5th grade is viewed as every bit as important as the flashy No 10 in 1st grade. That doesn’t mean we don’t like to win, we do, it’s just an even better night when all 5 grades get up!

Our online auction will end at noon on Sunday. When the online auction ends, leading bidders will be notified via email. You can continue bidding live at our event at The Balmain on Sunday afternoon. If you can't attend the event, you have the option of entering a Proxy Bid. This is the maximum amount you are willing to pay for the item and will be carried forward to our live event.
