OM Project

The OM Project is an initiative of Dirty South Yoga Fest to benefit Centering Youth. Local artists donated works of art that incorporate an OM symbol for auction. All funds from the art auction will go directly to support Centering Youth. The artwork listed on this site is on display in studios across Atlanta during the month of July so please go visit them in person and take a class at our supporting local studios!

Centering Youth is a 501(c)(3) non-profit yoga service initiative that brings Yoga and Mindfulness to young people in juvenile justice system, and to those who have been sexually exploited, abused or are homeless.

Yoga and mindfulness training have proven effective in providing young people and adults with tools for gaining self-confidence, focusing their attention, and controlling their emotions and conduct, while engaging in a positive physical and mental activity. It is the goal of Centering Youth to give participants tools to help them function in their family units, in schools and in their communities, so they can succeed in reaching their positive goals, avoid future contact with the criminal justice system and advance the cause of community safety. Our classes are, when possible and appropriate, are open to parents, guardians and the staffs of the facilities, such as juvenile courts, where the classes are being offered, since our classes benefit all who participate and assist in creating a positive bond between the youthful participants, their parents and those who supervise or otherwise assist them.

In addition, Centering Youth offers training workshops and other activities for those involved in, or who want to become involved in, bringing yoga and mindfulness to underserved communities. Centering Youth seeks to raise awareness and the level of service activity in the Atlanta yoga community and across the nation.

The OM Project will include a silent live auction event at Dirty South Yoga Fest's reception on August 6, 2016 from 6:45pm - 9:00pm at Ambient Plus Studio 585 Wells St. SW Unit A Atlanta, Georgia, 30312.
