I LOVE my Library Community Silent Auction

PLEASE NOTE: This is half of the items we have up for bid. The other half you can bid on in person at the Strathmore Municipal Library. Please go to www.strathmorelibrary.ca/auction for a list of all items up for bid.

On January 28, 2019, the Strathmore Municipal Library released a letter to the public explaining a budget shortfall and the need to reduce hours and programming, and increase exam invigilation fees. These fee increases and cuts to services go against the very reason that libraries exist: to build community, promote literacy, innovate, and provide universal access.

Although what the library requires is sustainable future funding from our municipality, fundraising could potentially help with some of the costs to run our programs. We were contacted by Natalie Dannatt from Custom Hand Crafted Furniture to help raise money for the library. After a bit of discussion, we determined a silent auction was the best way to achieve our fundraising goals. What happened next is truly beautiful! Businesses and citizens of Strathmore and area (including Calgary, Airdrie, and Waterton) stepped up and donated many magnificent items! The library is truly touched by the response and are grateful for all the support we have received.

The auction will run online and inside the library. Be sure to pop into the library to bid on items inside the library! Bidding opens at 10:00am on Monday, March 4 and closes at 8:00pm on Saturday, March 16. In addition to this auction, the library will be hosting a silent auction wrap-up party of Saturday, March 16 from 6:00pm-9:00pm. This will be a FREE family event with music, food, face painting by Angela Hitch, games, and a live auction. Here is your chance to get your last minute bids in on your favourite items! To see a full list of items up for auction go to www.strathmorelibrary.ca/auction.

Lastly, the Strathmore Municipal Library would like to extend a large thank you to Natalie Dannatt who has graciously given so much of her time and energy to this auction. You are a true library advocate and we could not have done this without you.
