Legends of Lime Rock Fundraiser

As Lime Rock Park celebrates its 60th year in 2017, one of the goals is to have a unique plaza to honor and memorialize the many people significant and important to the track’s history and its place in the motorsport universe. Legends such as John Fitch, Mark Donohue, Bill Milliken, Briggs Cunningham, Walt Hansgen... living legends such as Sam Posey, Skip Barber, Roger Penske... and folks such as Jim Vaill, who was inspired to create Lime Rock Park in 1957, and Jim Haynes, now retired in Florida, who ran Lime Rock so creatively and successfully for so many years.

This auction is a fundraiser for the designing and building of a Legends of Lime Rock Commemorative Area to forever honor the men and women instrumental to Lime Rock’s past, present and future success. The Legends of Lime Rock area will encompass a new, fan-friendly Winners Circle in addition to the memorial kiosk and plaza. Sam Posey will be deeply involved in the concept and design of buildings and plaza.

The five auction items you see here have been generously donated by partners, customers and clients of Lime Rock Park in order to provide a great head start to help fund the creation of... the Legends of Lime Rock Commemorative Area.

Lime Rock Park is the historic motorsports venue in Lakeville, Connecticut, in the state’s famous Northwest Corner. It can be argued that Lime Rock is the most significantly historic sports car road racing circuit in North America.

Among the annual events, the Park hosted Historic Festival 36 over Labor Day weekend 2019. This year's featured marque was Bugatti where 60-plus of the historic cars were part of the festival's vintage racing extravaganza and/or Concours d'Elegance.
