Mona and Danny Lewis of Redwood Stables, sadly lost their business, when their barn collapsed. Their friends would like to help repair the barn and return the horses home

Danny and Mona Lewis of Redwood Stables, Coxheath, sadly lost their business of nearly 40 years, when their barn collapsed under the worst snow and ice buildup seen in many years on Friday 27th December. The local community rallied to the aid of the Lewis’, rescuing and finding new temporary homes for all 22 horses.

Mona’s passion is mentoring and teaching riding to some 40 students a week, she also boards horses for clients and is a highly respected trainer. Danny built the barn himself over 26 years ago for Mona who has described this disaster as ‘her worst nightmare.’

Danny and Mona are the nicest and truly respected members of the community, who will do everything in their power to help someone. Over the years they have opened their hearts and home to many people, and made them feel welcome. They are described as inspirational, kind and amazing mentors.

Despite the quantities of ice and snow experienced in Sydney this year, insurance does not cover the cost of rebuilding the barn, which is classed as a ‘preventable accident’.

This is now time for us to give back to Danny and Mona for all the wonderful things they have done over the years. Family and friends have rallied round the Lewis’. All proceeds from this auction will contribute toward the $200,000 costs of rebuilding a new barn.
