Formed Families Forward ONLINE Auction

THANK YOU for bidding on an item during the Formed Families Forward ONLINE (November 8-12th) auction that will support the Stronger Together peer support groups. The twice-monthly group meetings are facilitated by professional clinicians and are FREE of charge. The groups are open to youth and young adults age 14-22 who seek positive support from peers with mental health conditions, learning disabilities, experience with social services, and other special needs. A group for parents and caregivers also meets at the same time and location. These groups run from October through May, 2018 and include a light dinner.

Your support will help raise the necessary funds to continue this free service. In their fourth year, the groups encourage teens and young adults to share their experiences, build resiliency skills and support peers in their journey towards wellness. Jessie, 17, participated in last year’s group and says, “Being with other kids who have issues helps me know I am not alone with my problems. We have a good time and try to support each other when it’s hard.”

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting foster, kinship, and adoptive families of children and youth with disabilities and other special needs. We serve families, educators and child welfare professionals in the Northern Virginia area.

Formed Families Forward’s mission is to improve developmental, educational, social, emotional and post-secondary outcomes for children and youth with disabilities and other special needs through provision of information, training and support to adoptive and foster parents, and kinship caregivers.
