ELDER AUCTION #1

Many of us Elders have accumulated an art collection or, perhaps, valuable images that we have created ourselves through the years. This is the first Elder Auction of some of Art Mackay's collection of sculptures, paintings and prints collected through the years. He's downsizing and would like his treasures to go to someone who will appreciate these items as much as he has.

The funds from this auction will be used to assist Art in meeting basic expenses and those related to building the Elder Action concept, helping other seniors to sell their treasures on Elder Auction and other online markets.

Elderaction is an initiative conceived in 2005 – 2006. Unfortunately circumstances resulted in it being set aside in the “Ideas Folder” to consider at a later date. Occasionally it was brought out and dusted off, but it wasn’t until 2012 that circumstances changed and the idea was introduced on Linkedin.com.

At the same time political challenges where activating elders everywhere and developments on the internet created niches where it became possible for us to participate in business, politics, education, medicine, design, art and other fields where our skills and wisdom are clearly needed and to pass on our valuable assets before we leave this place.

We’re told we are an aging population and “seniors” are somehow no longer able to make significant contribution to our communities and that we will become a financial drain on the country. Well it just isn’t necessarily true! Look around you and you will see elders working everywhere and more . Indeed some of our key folks are true “elders” who have the wisdom and experience of decades and these folks need to bring their talents back into our social system where some sanity needs to return.

Elderaction is designed to bring more elders together to foster a healthy social environment now and in the future.

There is room for everyone whether you are physically able or not. You can work at home, in the field, at an office, or at camp or park sites. Our businesses, developers and entrepreneurs require typists, designers, scientists, webmasters, teachers, monitors, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, managers, artists, general workers, fundraisers … the list is long. Paid or volunteer elders have accumulated years and years of expertise.
