About Our Auction

The General Darby Legacy Project's online auction event was created to help raise funds for the General Darby Legacy Monument which will serve to honor the memory of Gen. Darby for his contributions during World War II and his ultimate sacrifice as the founder of the U.S. Army Rangers.

The mission is to posthumously recognize and bestow honor upon Gen. William O. Darby, for the ultimate sacrifice he gave as a U.S. Army Ranger during WWII, by preserving Ranger history in Fort Smith, Arkansas through education, community involvement and promoting an "All Era Ranger Reunion". To dedicate a Gen. Darby monument to be forever placed at Cisterna Park in Fort Smith, Arkansas as a memorial and reminder of his and all Rangers dedication and sacrifices by celebrating the triumphs and remembering the tragedies.

The monument will be a recreation of documented pictures of Gen. Darby riding a 1942 Harley Davidson WLA during World War II. As the commander of the Rangers, Darby used the motorcycle as a preferred mode of transportation to commute between troops. Kevin Kresse is the artist/sculptor selected for the General William O. Darby Monument.
