Credit Union Central of Canada (Canadian Central) as the national trade association for the Canadian credit union system, provides a National Forum, a National Voice and National Services to support credit unions in Canada.

Canadian Central’s board is comprised of ten directors, appointed by five Central member-shareholders. A focused committee structure, encompassing Finance, Legislative Affairs, Risk Management, Business Issues, Corporate Social Responsibility, National Young Leaders and Lending, supports Canadian Central’s roles as an active and effective trade association. In support of national initiatives, and to facilitate knowledge exchange, committee members from Centrals and individual credit unions work together to further the aims of the system overall.

Canadian Central employs almost 50 staff members. The Toronto office is also home to CUSOURCE Credit Union Knowledge Network, the national learning management facility for the credit union system. Our Ottawa team is focused on increasing our policy and advocacy activities and influence in the area of Federal Government relations. Our Mission and Vision guide Canadian Central as a leading industry trade association, enabling the Canadian credit union system to compete, excel and achieve.

Co-op week is the opportunity for Canadian co-operative and credit union members to celebrate the fact that they have collectively helped to build this country and to recognize their continuing contributions at home and abroad. Co-op Week is always celebrated during the same week as International Credit Union Day, which is the third Thursday in October of each year. Co-op week 2012 is from October 14 to 20.

In order to celebrate co-op week and International Credit Union Day, the Co-operative Development Foundation (CDF) is holding its fourth annual Co-op Week Online Auction, from October 15 (noon) to October 19 (noon)!
