About Our Auction

Cody's Story:

Cody Clark is an energetic, happy, fun-loving, 21-year-old young man who loves to hunt, fish and be in the mountains with his friends and family. In 2011, he began having pain in his right hip. He suffered through the pain, thinking it would eventually go away on it’s own. It began getting progressively worse and became very excruciating for him. His mother and father took him to several doctors and had numerous tests and x-rays done. The doctors kept coming up with nothing. He even saw an orthopedic oncologist and was cleared of cancer. In October 2011, it was decided that he had Transient Osteoporosis of the hip and that it should resolve on its own. However, the pain did not go away, it only got worse. He was unable to sleep or eat due to the severity of the pain.

On Friday, January 13, 2012, he went in for hip surgery so the doctors could determine exactly what was going on with Cody. They, at this point, believed that he could have necrosis of the bone and would need a de-compression and a graft done. During the surgery, it was found that he had a massive tumor in his right hip. He was diagnosed with an atypical case of Osteosarcoma, a very rare and very aggressive form of cancer. After he recovered from this surgery, he immediately began aggressive chemotherapy treatments that ran every 3 weeks, 24 hours a day for 4 straight days and usually required at least 6 days in the hospital before he was stable enough to go home. The tumor needed to be shrunk as much as possible before they could operate again to remove it. In between his chemo treatments, he and his family drove back and forth several times to meet with specialists in UCLA to monitor his treatments, monitor his cancer and prepare for his upcoming surgery to remove the tumor. For months, he battled through numerous chemo treatments and hospital stays until it was determined that the tumor had shrunk enough to operate and try to remove it. Throughout all of this, Cody’s attitude remained positive and his spirits high.

In May 2012, he and his family drove to UCLA for his surgery. During the surgery it was determined that in order to remove all of the cancerous tumor, his right leg needed to be amputated from the hip down. For the next few months, Cody endured more rigorous chemotherapy along with painful rehabilitation and learning to walk again. He did all this with a smile on his face and continuing to hunt and drive to mountains in between chemo treatments!

In October 2012, after 10 long rounds of chemotherapy and numerous trips to and from UCLA, Cody was said to be cancer free. In December 2012, he and his family made several trips to LA to be fitted for his prosthetic leg. At the end of December, his prosthetic was finished. Just 1 week later, his scans revealed that his cancer had returned. In January 2013, he began chemotherapy again. A few months later, it was decided that he required radiation therapy along with the chemotherapy as the cancer was very aggressive. He has 4 major tumors; 2 in his right lung, 1 on his sternum and 1 in a lymph node hear his right hip. Due to his treatments, he has not been able to use his prosthetic.

Throughout this whole ordeal, Cody has been unable to work and has been denied disability. Currently, Cody is still undergoing his treatments and still has that handsome smile on his face. Cody, his mom, Terri, dad, Adrian, and his two brothers, Brady and Dustin have been through so much the past two years. He and his family are an inspiration to so many people. Their faith is unwavering. Cody has been such an amazing example of strength and courage! He and his wonderful family need our help! They need our prayers and support! We are trying to raise as much money as possible to help Cody and his family with their extensive medical bills. Please help us rally together and support the Clark family, and help Cody beat cancer!
