About Our Auction

Would you like to own a timeless piece of art? Would you also like to keep Utah’s wild and beautiful places from being strip-mined for dirty energy? Need a special Christmas present? You can do all three things here...

Support the arts, own a painting, and 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Grand Canyon Trust’s work to fight dirty energy development in Utah.

Grand Canyon Trust is leading efforts to prevent Utah’s land, air, and water resources from being destroyed by oil shale and tar sands mining. The Trust is also focused on developing renewable energy policies and projects to reduce harmful emissions and to assist communities in their transition toward clean energy.

About Chloe Hedden

As I see the heart-breaking effects of climate change beginning to unfold all around me, I feel a great urgency to contribute in some way to making a change. Beyond my vote, I don’t have much to add to the legal and political fight against global warming. But, what I do have as an artist is my body of work. So, in the spirit of each of us giving our best, I decided to make my paintings available for this online auction and donate half of the profits to the fight against strip mining and burning Utah’s oil shale and tar sands—the world’s largest deposits of these dirty fuels. I hope you will help make this gesture of mine a meaningful one by purchasing a painting or by following my example and discovering your own best way to join the cause. Thank you!

About the Artist—I was born and raised in Utah's wild red desert, but have had the great fortune to call many amazing places around the world my home. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, I paint large oils and illustrate children’s books. My first children’s book, “The Illuminated Desert,” with words by Terry Tempest Williams, won The Mountains and Plains Bookseller’s Award for Best Children’s Book of 2008. My oil paintings are shown at Walker Fine Art in Denver, Colorado. My work is featured in numerous public and private collections.
