JDRF Inaugural Volleyball Tournament

The men of Zeta Chi Chapter of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity are excited to announce the Inaugural ­JDRF Volleyball Tournament to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The event is scheduled for Friday November 2, 2018 in the Payne Center on the Hattiesburg Campus.

Delta Tau Delta and JDRF formed a national partnership focused on philanthropic endeavors and community service. The partnership engages Delta Tau Delta’s 133 chapters and colonies on college campuses nationwide to work closely with local JDRF chapters to help raise funds and awareness about type 1 diabetes (T1D). JDRF is the worldwide leader for research toward curing, treating and preventing T1D and its complications. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food.

Driven by passionate, grassroots volunteers connected to children, adolescents and adults with this disease, JDRF is now the largest charitable supporter of T1D research. JDRF has raised more than $1.7 billion in research funding since 1970. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners who share this goal. Since its partnership with Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, Delts across the nation have given more than 10,000 hours of service to this cause, and have helped raise more than $1 Million for research. Past JDRF efforts have helped to significantly advance the care of people with this disease, and have expanded the critical scientific understanding of T1D.

Zeta Chi Chapter of Delta Tau Delta has worked for 32 years to raise funds to cure Cystic Fibrosis - and always will! The fraternity adopted the Type 1 Diabetes research foundation, JDRF as its official philanthropy. Zeta Chi has also raised funds for JDRF for the past 6 years.
