The Ride Home began in 2002 as a retreat and rededication. Our founding member’s, choose the National Historic Site at Andersonville, GA, home of the National Prisoners of War Museum. Taking up a challenge of a Presidential Proclamation, "I call upon the people of the United States to join me in honoring and remembering all former American prisoners of war and those missing in action who valiantly served our great country. I also call upon Federal, State, and local government officials and private organizations to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities."
Our goal each year is to invite, as our guests, former POWs and MIA family members, offering a recognition commensurate with their extraordinary courage and valor; to increase the number of participants paying tribute; and to increase public awareness and commitment that we will never forget.
