About Our Auction

My name is Chris Gross. Being disabled at 35 wasn't in my plans. It is what reality is though due to a genetic connective tissue disorder called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and the secondary conditions EDS makes me vulnerable to. I was a very active person previously and am the mother of a wonderul 4 year old. I have applied to several service dog programs to have a dog to assist me. The wait is 2-5 years. A 5 year minimum wait would be for a dog that could do balance and mobility work, something I desperately need. As an alternative to that I have found a suitable puppy that I can raise and train with the aid of professional trainers. The costs associated with such an endeavor are substantial. In order to offset some of the financial burden. I am doing what is most difficult for me... asking for help. My initial goal is to raise $3000 to cover the purchase price of the suitable puppy, travel cost to pick her up 500 miles away, and initial veterinary costs (shots, spaying, etc). I will also be enrolling her in formal obedience for socialization and in order to utilize my dog trainer for assistance along this journey. All funds raised will be solely for this purpose of raising and training a service dog capable of assisting me. Tasks she will be trained for include picking up dropped items, providing balance when I experience vertigo or fall, and going for help when I am unable to get help myself (which happened about a month ago when I was non-responsive in bed as my blood pressure plummeted to almost nothing). If you would like to make a contribution it would be greatly appreciated. To make a donation by PayPal be sure to send the donation as a personal gift. PayPal does not charge a fee that way.
My PayPal address is kervaski@aol.com

Thank you all for reading this and for your support.
Many thanks, Chris
