About Fushu Daiko / Japan Arts Inc

The Mission: Presenting traditional Japanese performing arts in a modern and innovative form that is unique to South Florida - reflecting the multicultural make-up of our ensemble and the South Florida culture in which we live. Through the energetic experience of taiko drumming, we promote healthy individuals and connected communities.

The spirit in which Taiko drumming is played touches people in the audience in a deep and meaningful way. Over the years, Fushu Daiko's members have connected deeply with people all around South Florida and brought a cultural bridging to the community that creates a sense of inclusiveness and generosity of spirit.

Our music combines the traditional drums and rhythms of Japan with musical styles from around the world, such as jazz and rhythm and blues, to create an exciting, powerful cross-cultural experience that strives to cross boundaries and create connections in the hearts of those who hear the taiko’s beat.

Fushu Daiko turns 25! The story of taiko drumming in South Florida is also the story of Fushu Daiko – from its beginning in 1990, bringing the art form to South Florida, to the present and turning twenty-five in 2015.
